Water from the Jordan River is of significant importance to the Christian community as it is believed to be where Jesus was baptized and the start of His ministry. The Jordan River originates from the peaks of the Hermon Mountain (extending from tributaries – Hasbani, Banias, Dan and Ayoun) becoming the Jordan River in the north of Israel, flowing into the Sea of Galilee and then over 200 miles to the lowest point of the earth – the Dead Sea. The Jordan River is a major water source of the region.
